SkillCapture can only work with cameras that can stream video directly into the computer. Mini DV cameras can do this and is connected through firewire (also called iLink or 1394).
Mini DV cameras that can be used:
- Sony Handycam DCR HC27E
- Canon MD110
- JVC GR D720E
- Most MiniDV camera with firewire
Web cameras can also be used. The only problem with web cameras is the limited number of frames that can be obtained (typical 10/sec.). Web cameras are not suited for fast movement feedback.
Types of cameras that can not be directly used with SkillCapture:
- Harddrive cameras
- High definition cameras
- DVD cameras
- SD cameras (memory card type)
The only solution to use the above camera is to use the analog (composite) signal and use some AV capture hardware to stream it directly to the computer.
If you have "old" analog video cameras (or survaillance) you also need some conversion hardware between the camera and the computer. Look at the analog camera faq for further information.
